I am in the process of researching Epson's line of all-in-one printers to replace my current HP model (garbage). This will be in a home WI-FI environment where at least one PC is still running XP SP-2. The only XP 32 bit OS listed in their system requirements is SP-3. Without going into why, I do not want to upgrade the machine, at all. I have 4 other PCs on the network that range from XP SP3 to Windows 8.

My question is, will there be a problem with the SP-2 machine? I would like to be able to print from it until I can phase it out. I posed this same question to Epson tech support and received a canned non-answer. If anyone can give me a realistic answer i would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Pretty much every developer still supports XP Service Pack 2. This is because there was no Service Pack 3 for XP 64-bit.

Adobe Reader, Apple iTunes, Java (excluding 8), Netflix streaming with Silverlight, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc the list goes on and on-- they all list Service Pack 2+ in their system requirements.

There was nothing earth-shattering released in SP3 (unlike SP2), so I can't see what dependencies there would be that would prevent you from installing on SP2.

As ex-bubblehead stated, Epson is likely just telling you that SP2 hasn't been supported in 4 years so if you have a problem you are on your own.
