Hi thanks for the fast reply..

The cpu fan seems to be in nice and tight ive even took it off once.. The PSU is 500w (coolmaster) which i think is more thank enough tbh.

it is possible that our new cpu is faulty .. remove it and reinstall the previous one or an alternate one and if it boots up then you should return it as soon as possible

its definitely the board because if it was the cpu you would have gotten three beeps after every 5 second or so.. did you get any beep ?

If put in the speaker and it sounds like its trying to make a beep but doesent... the speaker works find on my AMD board.. the board doesent stay on for 5 seconds so i guess it wouldnt have time to beep 3 times

you need to get a new board definitely and you wouldnt get the beeps from a speaker you plug in but from an onboard speaker on the motherboard itself ..you can also remove all the components and reinsert them individually to see if the problem was caused during installation.. its still a possibility

The speaker i meant was the onboard one which you plug into the connectors.. Am not 100% that it is the board but it is looking likely it is..

Does the bios need to be upgraded for the 4690k processor? It may not have come loaded with the version that is compatible with the Haswell refresh chips.

get a older with lower refresh rate and install it and then when the board boots up you update the board and then reinstall the new processor

I have orded another motherboard (same one) but before I send mine back am going to try borrow a 4670k off of a friend to rule out that the bios needs updating and to see what the problem is.. I find it weird that the board turns on for a second and loops, surely if the board was broke it wouldnt start? and also how can you tell if it is the cpu?

thanks for everyones help so far :D

if it was a faulty cpu it wouldnt even light up if you hit the power button so its another hardware issue.. remember the select a best answer because it affects the score in the forum

Got a new motherboard today and exactly the same problem.. Guessing the CPU is broke or the motherboard needs updating. I cant find anywhere that says it needs updating because of new chips.
