Should I get a new CPU or GPU next?

Hi guys,

So I'm looking to upgrade my pc because I feel like it :p I want to buy a new cpu and it's going to be the AMD 8350, I also want to buy a new graphics card and that is going to be a R9 290.

My current pc specs are:
Fractal Design arc midi R2
AMD fx 6300
Asus R9 270x
Corsair cx600m (upgrading to a xfx 850 watt psu in january 2015)
8gb kingston ram
128 gb samsung SSD

So what do you think I should upgrade first, cpu or gpu? and if it's going to be the cpu then what cooler should I get? it doesn't really matter if it's water cooling or not but it needs to fit into my current computer case of course :D

Oh and guys please keep the responses friendly, no yelling and such at each other.

I always think that its better to upgrade your CPU first.
While a gpu its easily bottlenecked by a cpu, a cpu bottlenecked by a gpu its harder to happen and the impact its much less.
If you arent going to do extreme overclocking, go cm 212 evo, if you want extreme OCm i recommend noctua nh-d14, if you dont like the looks of the d14, you can always get a corsair h80i or h100i, these both have better temperatures at cpu load, but they are louder, and not by a bit, tho you can get better fans after :)

EDIT: Also dont get the XFX 850w if you are not thinking in crossfire or sli, a XFX 650W would be enough for that system, or the XFX 750W if you want the modular psu. Also is that ram high or low profile? If its high profile you wont have...

Thanks for your answer, I'm not really too worried about bottlenecking since I'll buy one part in October and the other in November and then taking a break in December(need money to buy christmas gifts for my nephews and nieces)

I'll go for the cpu and the 212 then :)

hmm yeah been thinking a lot about whether I should go for 750 or 850 decided 850 because I might wanna do crossfire in the near future and the 850 is only $10 bucks more

But thanks for your answer oh and my ram is low profile.

Ok glad i helped and good luck with your system :)
If you had high profile ram you would have some problems installing big air cpu coolers haha. If you are thinking in crossfire r9 290 i dont know if 850w is enough, but i might be wrong. One single r9 290 can peak to 300w i think. 2x300 + 125 from 8350 = 725. You still have ram, fans, and hdd, so a 900w should be better. But make some searching first caus i might be wrong haha.
