hello,
my current pc have i3 2100 with 8gb of ram and a s**tty motherboard and gtx 780.
gaming so far has been pretty good, watch dogs was able to run at ultra settings with decent fps at 1080p.
crysis 3 got affected by the bottleneck, but every other game ran fine.
heavily modded skyrim with every mod that i could find ran amazing.
bioshock infinte ran amazing at max settings, far cry 3 run good(not 60FPS but above 30 which is great for me)
now i want to replace the cpu, i dont mind having a bottleneck i just want to decrease it a little bit.
i was thinking about the i5 4590, and i want to know how much of a bottleneck i will get.
if you have any other suggestion it will be very helpful, but not too expensive.
and another thing, i am replacing motherboard with the cpu, how bad is taking PCIe 2.0?

thank you very much.
and sorry for my bad english :O

Aside from being a dual core, that i3 should do fairly well as is, which you seem to be reporting.

You won't have a bottleneck at all if you update to an i5 of nearly any generation, except maybe the first.

i5-4590 will require a new H97 or Z97 motherboard.
The i5-4590 uses a different socket (LGA 1150) than your i3-2100 (LGA 1155). You will either have to pick up an old LGA 1155 CPU that is compatible with your current motherboard or replace both the motherboard and CPU. About the best CPU you will get for the LGA 1155 platform is the i5-3570 assuming your motherboard BIOS supports it. You will have to check the motherboard support page to see what CPUs are compatible with your motherboard. You will also want to update the BIOS to the latest version before updating the CPU.

What is your motherboard brand/model number?

Edit: You edited your post to state that you will be upgrading the motherboard along with the CPU after I had pressed the reply button.

thank you very much guys, i checked the i5 4690, and its a little bit more expensive, i dont live in the USA or canada or anywhere with low prices for hardware, and the difference here is quite alot for me.
so if im sticking with 4590 will i be okay?
i dont think ill get 3570 because ill not be able to upgrade for a long time.
and PCIe 2.0 motherboard?
im thinking to get the h81m-p33 motherboard.

thank you very much :D

Yes a 4590 Is very good without overclocking. This would be enough with any single card.

PCIE 2.0 Has a smaller bandwidth, but today cards does not use all the 3.0 Bandwidth. So performance loss should be around 5 % nothing you should notice.

But be Careful, a H81 board might comes without a Bios New recent enough for a I5 4690. Which would mean your motherboard would not be able to boot with the CPU.

I would consider another option. A I5 4690 is supported from the Version 2 of this motherboard.

I5 4670, is supported since Version 0 http://www.msi.com/support/mb/H81P33.html#support-cpu

thank you very much, ill stay with PCIe 2.0
and about the CPU, i can ask the place im buying from to update the BIOS so i dont think this will be a problem.
I'll consider maybe to get the 4670, his clock speed is faster at reference, and im not interested in overclocking the cpu.

thank you very much for you help!
