I've been getting the error "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I have Windows 7, I'm the administrator, no files are blocked and I have full access. I also have turned off my firewall.

I've done research, and can't find any solution except to unblock the file, turn off firewall and change permissions and/or switch user to admin. What if I've done all that and I'm still getting the error? Are there other possibilities for this to be happening? Are there other ways around this?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi mate,

I had the same issue and I've just fixed it. I'm not quite sure why it happened but I think it has something to do with my Samsung SSD and the Samsung Magician software. But before I get into that I'll just quickly say how I fixed it:

Open Control Panel
Search for "Index"
Open "Indexing Options"
Click "Advanced"
then "Rebuild"

When I installed the Samsung Magician software I used the OS optimization, which changes the power option to "Samsung High Performance" and I changed it back to regular high performance for what ever reason. But I remember the Samsung Magician changes the indexing options I think? Anyhow given rebuilding the indexing fixed all of my errors that was the only thing that I can think of that may have changed how the indexing behaved.
