I built my pc around 1 year ago. Back then I could play most games on ultra, but I'm having to turn it down to high. I was wander whether my AMD A10 5800k over clocked to 4.2 ghz is bottle necking my R9 270 4gb? I was also wandering whether i should upgrade my CPU.

SPECS:

CPU - AMD A10 5800k OC 4.2ghz
Gpu- r9 270
Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3H
Ram- 8gb (2x4)

Thank you

a10 should not bottleneck a 270, at a 280 then yes absolutley.

Not sure why you bought an a10 and a dedicated graphics card as the only thing the a10 has going for it is the budget integrated graphics chip.

You can upgrade the cpu to a 7700k cpu but that will give you only a very very minor increase: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-A10-7700K-vs-AMD-A10-5800K

To really upgrade your system you would have to either get an FX-8230/FX-8350 cpu or go intel, either way would require you to buy a new motherboard.

Unfortunatly you are hitting the wall that so many other people are hitting that bought an fm2 platform (a4/a6/a8/a10) computer are are wanting more performance.
