Hi! I recently purchased a 27-inch 1440p semi-glossy display, and so far editing text on this monitor has caused much more eye strain than on the old 23-inch 1080p glossy display. I wonder if anyone has experienced this or can offer some solutions?
I know that the text is smaller on 1440p/27in than 1080p/23in, but the PPI difference is not that huge: 108ppi vs 96ppi. Besides, my laptop is 1366*768 at 14 inch (PPI = 112) and has the highest PPI, but I can work on my laptop for hours without a sweat. My laptop is also glossy.
So I wonder if it's a matter of glossy vs matte, or more concrete, the presence or lack of reflections. For a glossy screen, I do see reflections all the time, but I felt that provides a chance for my eyes to reflex, i.e. looking at something in a distance. Put it in another way, my eyes can alternate between near and far objects. For a matte screen without reflections, my eyes can focus only on the one bright object in front me (screen), building up strain over a much shorter period of time.
I just want to know if anyone has experience something similar transitioning from 1080p to 1440p, if there's really a difference between matte vs glossy, or is it just due to the decrease in font size.
Thanks!
