I recently bought a new laptop and was wondering if it had the power to play games like Battlefield 3/4 or any new games that are soon to be released.

Intel Core i7 4700MQ 2.4GHz
Nvidia GT840M
8gb RAM
1TB HDD

It's very good, it WILL play most games on high-ultra, especially if you can upgrade the RAM. If there is a way to overclock the CPU, do it because the clock rate is a bit weak.
