Is this a good upgrade from a MSI 7770 1gb and will it work on my system?

Hello, thanks for stopping by i have a question about my system and upgrading it. The gpu i want to get is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127772&cm_re=Express_3.0_x_16-_-14-127-772-_-Product
Which is a MSI GeForce GTX 760 GAMING ITX. It says it is supported by a PCI express 3.0x16 my system has a PCI express 20x16 will this matter? My crad right now is a 3.0x16 and is running on my PCI express 2.0x16.(im not extremly good with computers sorry). I also want to know if this is a good upgrade from my Radeon 7770.I also want to know if NVIDIA cards are compatible with AMD systems and vice versa. Thanks in advance :).

Solution
The difference between PCIe 3.0 x16 and PCIe 2.0 x16 does not matter. The PCIe standard is fully backwards compatible, and there is no graphics card on the market that really needs the extra bandwidth of PCIe 3.0 over 2.0, at least on an x16 connection.

The GTX 760 is a very big upgrade from a 7770. There is no issue with compatibility or performance between Nvidia and AMD, or either of those with Intel - as long as it's PCIe it just works.

The only downside to that card is that cooling has been sacrificed to make it so small. So it will run hot and make more noise than many other cards. But if you have a case with very little room, then that is almost certainly the most powerful card you can cram into such a small form factor.
