I want to set up VMs on my pc, but when I try to run Xen, it tells me I need some components my Intel Core 2 Duo doesn't have. Also it's slower than mud in the winter when I manage to get a copy of Damn small Linux up. I am looking at an ASRock with an AMD Quad core X4 3850 to replace my system, but the numbers (3850) and others behind the processors names leave me in the dark.
I'd like to know what those numbers mean and how little I can get away with to meet my objective.
A mobo combo suggestion would really hit the spot.
Thanks in advance ...

It is just a model name.

That's fine, thanks. But what I need to uncover is, how can I determine how much processor I need to meet my computing demands? For example, my Core 2 Duo sounds like it has 2 cores and 2 threads EACH, but that isn't the case, so out of ignorance, I bought the CPU only to discover it won't do the job. It isn't beautifully simple like, I need a Mustang and the salesman shows me an SUV. Chips all look pretty much the same. Often, lengthy searches won't do the trick because the shop can't afford to carry that much inventory, so the list you made up is worthless. but if I had the codified model number key, my search would be much simpler.
