Ok so I've noticed that alot of the people that are hating on Windows 8 in comments sections etc. Haven't actually used Windows 8 as of yet. Well I think Windows 8 is a brilliant OS and I'm just going to use the main issue I read people bitching about as an example here.

"I don't want to have to use my Mouse and Keyboard to navigate a Touchscreen."

There is a desktop with Windows 8, they didn't just throw the desktop out the window all of a sudden to replace it with MetroUI. There are also numerous start menu mods that make Windows 8 just like using Windows 7 and goes straight to desktop on boot if you don't want to use the MetroUI atall. I am currently using a start menu mod called "Shell8" that goes straight to the desktop as I do not want to use the MetroUI and i am absolutely loving Windows 8. Less of my PCs resources used, Boots alot faster than windows 7, Better framerates in games etc. The only thing that I can think of is that these people are extremely misinformed?

I got fed up with how horrible it was with my wireless adapter. Internet constantly shut off, I had to keep reconnecting. Everything online never fixed it, I have Ubuntu now and the problem is gone. Also, updating my driver one time only caused my Internet to completely not work.

For me, Ballmer took away a vast amount of personal customization that each user might enjoy. Win8 strips that away, dumbs it down. "Everyone must use it like Ballmer does, or shut up."

Has that EVER been an attractive feature for any product? No.

Of course, Microsoft neglects to mention these issues. Fanbois say, "We never customize our stuff anyway - we love using everything the same way as everyone else."

And by binding the User Interface into the core Operating System, then workarounds aren't easy or even possible.

Next, there's the Always On issue, where Microsoft wants to bind every user into their Windows Store, track every user, every feature. What's next? Tracking every click? Charging by The Click? By the Mouse Mile?

Sure. Why not? They CAN track that, after all. "You've just clicked the 100th time. Please send us more money."

Gee - what's not to like about THAT, eh?

Folks can say, "Now now, that's not what is happening" yet all of those directions are NOW in place, ready to be enforced.

If you want to be on-line, please notice that Microsoft's massive worldwide development cloud was off-line for hours and hours recently.

Two months ago, it was Office365.

The marketing lies about "Always On" sound great until they run into the not-so-perfect world where we actually live. Then Microsoft's clouds go belly up. Google loses GMail for hours here or there.

"But Always On is so terrific!! We get tracked all the time!" Yeah. Right... those "the cloud is down!" is really a blessing in disguise.

Well my experience with Windows 8 has been good, i havnt had any issues (i know other people have though).

Most people dont like it because of the new UI/start menu. Making such a big change from W7 to W8 wasnt a good idea from Microsoft, as a lot of people cannot handle the sudden change, preferring to stick with something they are used to.

A lot of new buyers would go into a store, see the 'MetroUI', and decide not to get a Windows 8 laptop just because they dont like how it looks, opting to go with a Windows 7 model or move to Mac. I saw an article about tech stores a while a ago, and staff had been found to be actively telling customers that Windows 7 was much better than Windows 8, because of the new UI making programs run slower.

For gaming, Windows 8 is a better choice. It natively supports DX11, as well as having better multithreaded optimisation. Optimisation is better in general on Windows 8, at least in my opinion.
I know that on my old dual core laptop, moving from W7 to W8 made my BF3 frame rate go from an unplayable 15 fps to above 30, which is a considerable difference.

Most devices that worked well with Windows 7 are fully supported in Windows 8, but there are a few things that don't work as well, like my friend's wifi card, which, like turkey3_scratch's card, used to cut out often. He has since replaced the card with a different brand, and it works fine.

I tried Windows 8 then 8.1 then added http://www.classicshell.net/ and that didn't help either.
So I want to see what 9 looks like or feels like.
For the time being, I'm sticking with Windows 7 Ultimate

One thing for sure - Win9 is going to be HUGE. That's because all the Win8 lovers said, "You have to embrace change or else-!" so I'm oh-so-certain they'll just LOVE Win9. Maybe, by the end of the first week, they'll all be converted over.
