Approximate Purchase Date: 3- 6 months
Budget Range: $600 not including the monitor.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Recording Games with my Elgato, Rendering Videos, Editing, Browsing Internet

Are you buying a monitor: Yes, but don't include it in the price. I would like a recommendation on a monitor that's around $200

Parts to Upgrade: Eventually I would upgrade the RAM to 8gb.

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Don't care

Location: City, State/Region, Country - USA

Parts Preferences: Don't really care.

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: Whatever the monitor you recommends resolution is

Additional Comments: I want it to be semi quiet because my Xbox makes enough noise already. I

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I don't have a computer anymore. My laptop crapped out and it costs more than the laptop is worth to fix it.

Do you include rebates in the build or no?

First, it's important to note that video editing and streaming need a lot of cores. I chose the AMD FX 8320 for the CPU instead of the AMD FX 8350 because you won't see a major performance increase with it. It also saved you $50. I went with 8gbs of ram since video editing likes to use a lot of ram and 8gbs is the sweet spot of gaming as well. The build is $50 under $600 right now since I got the FX 8320 but if you want, go with the FX 8350

I went with a 23" ASUS monitor. It's 1080p and has an IPS display which makes it look a lot better. It's $50 under the $200.

The OS, your choice. Windows 7 or 8, your choice. The $50 I saved you in each part will give you the $100 to buy the OS

The r270 is faster. People like the gtx 750 ti mainly because it's very efficient in terms of energy and heat.

I was doing a part picker as well and have many of the same things as Alexdiaz. Few tweeks. I would do Radeon HD 7870 over the 750. It'll do a bit nicer for gaming quality. I would also way up the power supply. No need to short change yourself here.

I don't need 750w. That's way too much for what I need. I only need like a 500w or 550w.

Sorry. I didn't want to sound so mean! I just wanted to get across that it was a weak build and it could be better. Sorry

It is not weak. For the money an fx6300 and r9 270 is quite good. What is weak about it?

It's weak for the budget

Make a better build then for the same money and don't use any junk quality parts.

No I didn't mean weak for that budget. If I was looking for a $450 build I would go with something along those lines, but I'm looking for something that is $600. I meant it's weak for MY budget

Ahh that makes sense.

Do you need an OS or anything? I will make a build.

Yes I will but my local PC store has some copies of windows 7 for $60. I couldn't find any cheaper ones online so I got a copy. So now I have room for a $600 build without the OS

Well, when you first posted it was a $600 dollar build with the OS. Obviously without the OS it could be significantly stronger.

Yes but now that I got a cheap OS I can have a better build

My point is, before you go criticizing other people's builds, update what you need. No one knew that you found a cheap OS elsewhere until now.

That motherboard is junk. No USB3, no VRM heatsink. DEFINITELY no overclocking should be done on it. It also uses a 5+ year old chipset. I STRONGLY recommend a 970 board.

Also if you plan to record a decent amount, you will need WAY WAY more than 1tb of storage.

August 27, 2014 4:19:51 PM

Ya I know but I will get more space when I need it. I might be able to get a 320gb HDD @5400 rpm for $5. Do you think it's worth it (along with the 1tb)?

August 27, 2014 4:21:54 PM

I guess. You could record to that and then move files over to edit/ render.

Remember that 1 hour of recorded footage with FRAPS at 1080p 30fps will be 70-80gb.

I won't use FRAPS to record. I'm gonna be using OBS for PC and then use my Elgato for console. I might also use my Elgato for PC if I decide to use HDMI for PC too. (I'll just add it into my hdmi switcher and only use it when I'm gonna be recording PC or not using console)

So you don't consider this one weak for the price? It's basically the same as mine except for a better motherboard and better case.

you will still need many TB's of storage.

August 27, 2014 5:12:38 PM

Ya I know. If my YouTube channel starts to take off then I will get a 2tb or 4tb drive, but until then I will be using my 2tb external drive.

I would not recommend recording to an external drive as USB is slow. I would take the drive apart and install it in your computer. It is just a normal old HDD inside a box. I have done this multiple times.

No I meant that I'm gonna record to the 1tb, then move the raw unedited clips and audio to the external HDD

That is a much better call. I would still just make it an internal drive though.

It's already 1/4 used with a backup from my current computer and a bunch of movies and music so I don't want to put it in my computer. And this way I can move the drive to another computer to play movies and stuff (I do that a lot with my HTPC)
