  1. A new GPU will give the greatest performance boost when gaming. For picking out the correct one, what is your budget?

Normally that would be true, but the Phenom II 965 is sure to be bottlenecking his R9 270X in some games at stock speeds. A stronger card would be very hit-and-miss depending on the games he's playing.
  3. Upgrade the CPU and motherboard. An FX-8350 or i5-4670k will be a nice upgrade.
  4. My Phenom II x4 955 doesn't bottleneck my GTX 770 even in Arma 2 or Crysis 3.
  5. Hi, it seems your spec is fine. As you want to improve your gaming performance, it depends on what type of game you play. Also what setting. I play bf4 with similar spec. 1360x768 res with high setting. 40fps is avg.

But for great performance, CPU and gpu update is important. But for now, an ssd will be great for game loading time.

What framerate do you get in Crysis 3 on ultra?
My old Phenom II 955 bottlenecked my GTX 750 Ti and GTX 660 (I've had both) heavily in some games.
  8. What frame do you get in games? And what do you need?

i get around 20-36 fps runing bf4 on high.Id would prefer better framerates though.
  10. I played through "Welcome to the Jungle" which is probably the most demanding (and best looking) part of the game. My average FPS was probably somewhere around 55 on maximum settings with AA at 4x I think. My CPU isn't at 100% usage so it's not bottlenecking. I also have a large OC on my GTX 770 and it still doesn't bottleneck.

EDIT: If you're running stock speeds, there might be a small bottleneck, but at 4GHz, there is none.
  11. A CPU upgrade in my mind would be the best. I would recommend a FX 8320 or i5-4430

Well, I am using FX-4100 @4.2ghz with hd6770(stock). I am getting avg. 40 with min 30fps. Res is 1360x768 @high setting. I think you are using higher resolution. So a CPU update is needed. Your gpu is fine for now.

A 4670k would be great for you with a z97 mobo. Try for it. It will be great for overclock and future proof. Later you can add more powerful gpu or xfire your current gpu with 4670k.
  13. Or, if you can afford it, the i7-4790k is beast right now. You can run a GTX Titan Z or R9-295X2 with that.
