It will work, but there would be some severe bottleneck. That card is way too much for the E7400, you should be looking at a 260x at most

yes, it will..
pcie 3.0 have a nice backward compability with pcie 1.1
but, your current processor severely bottleneck that card..so, there's no point to upgrade right now except you upgrade whole of your system..

btw, what is your powersupply brand..?
Some generic 500w PSU will not work...

that's means your current processor will hold back your graphic card true performance..
