Hi there

So I've been recommended this for a build:

Graphics Card
Processor and Motherboard
SSD
PSU
Hard Drive
Optical Drive

I will be using Microsoft Windows 8.1 Professional as I can get this for free.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Fractal Design Define R3 Titanium Grey ATX Mid Tower Case

I already own the bottom 3 items (Cpu Cooler, Case and Memory)

If anyone could suggest any changes to make to either save money but keeping performance that would be great. If I were to get this build how long would I be able to expect to keep running the most demanding games in highest settings?

Thanks guys!

PSU: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1850xxxb...
everything else is good performance at best value for money

I'd say for 3 years on max but it really depends on the game industry...

Really like this build and I don't think I would change anything. If there was one thing then maybe I would get a lower wattage psu as 850 is more than enough.

Thanks for your response guys!

The reasoning behind the high watt psu is that when I start to see that its getting behind times then I was maybe thinking of putting in a 2nd graphics card in with it?

Yes 850W is better especially if you want to do a crossfire with graphic cards or upgrade anything else... I recommended you XFX to save some money because it is also very quality PSU and is actually made by seasonic OEM :)

Depends on what video settings... still why not buy better monitor for the same money ? give or take 10-20£

Why would you buy a 290 if you don't plan on playing ultra

So I wouldn't be able to get ultra settings :$

Yes you would but your fps would vary from game to game (BF4 and arma3 are most high-end games and your fps would be around 60-90 which is ENOUGH)

On ultra you're getting 50-60fps, so a 60hz monitor is fine

He would get 100+ fps on CS:GO on max setting so I stick with my comment on getting better screen for the money :)

oh yay, on cs go. If the OP wanted to play just cs go a 750ti would've been fine, i don't think the OP plays just cs go or lol :)

Might be a crime to admit it but I have never played CS:GO and don't think I ever will. Games i will be playing will be Arma 3, DayZ and Civilization kind of games.

arma 3 and dayz are very gpu and cpu intensive, a 60hz monitor will be good as you will not be getting over 70fps on these games, same for bf4, cod, witcher, far cry, my monitor will save you money too as it has in built speakers

Just making a point... as you can see from the youtube video this guy gets around 90fps on all ultra settings.. also he could do crossfire in the future with R9 290 and his fps would still be over 90 in new upcoming games for the next 3 years at least soooo... yeah better screen :D

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/dell-monitor-s2240l :)  still 60hz if you want but with IPS and 7ms

*on cs go, OP doesn't want to play it, by the time the Op can afford crossfire, it'll be to keep up with the games, as in 5 years time it may only get 30fps, so OP might crossfire, if the OP crossfires, it's for higher fps, which will be because he would've bought a new screen :)

^ your m,onitor is still only 60hz, plus it has a 7ms response time, not good for games :)

Oh gosh don't want to argue with you.
Listen, peaco91. If you do only gaming on your pc(monitor) you can buy the monitor legend001523 has suggested you. If you also like to watch some movies and such go with the monitor I suggested you as IPS monitors have allot better color reproduction/accuracy, blacks, and viewing angles. ( but it is somewhat faster overall, but yeah don't want to argue :D  )
