I was recently told that instead of getting a AMD FX 8320 i should get a FX 6350 as most games wont utilize all 8 cores. In conjunction with a R9 270x GPU 8gb ram 600 watt PSU what cpu should i get and with that cpu and thing what could i expect on bf4 MP on high

Solution
I'd go with FX 8, it competes with the i5 in gaming. FX 6 is more like vs i3. 8 series OCs great too, and, though it'll not be a significant difference in FPS, 5-10 FPS is a considerable amount. Moreover, BF4 MP is very CPU intensive and the 2 extra cores will definately help FX 8 there:

Also, FX 8 is definately more secure purchase for the future as game developers are likely to become more sensitive to multi-core soon. But with either processor, make sure to get 9xx series MoBo.

Also, FX 6350 is a great CPU too, but for $20 you're getting 2 extra cores, which'll come handy soon IMO. A great thread...

My mobo is a 970A-DS3P

Yes that MoBo will suffice, altough a 990/FX is better at OCing, newer, and most likely to support future AMD CPUs. But then if you already have it, then there's no point discussing it. If you're yet to buy, I'd recommend 990FX.

For that particular MoBo, yes FX 8 will be a good CPU to pair it with and OCing is not a problem too.

with my setup of a amd fx 8320 r9 270x 2gb 8gb ram 600 watt psu mobo on multiplayer bf4 what can i expect on high regarding frames

You can expect respectable FPS of 55+ on high with AA/ shadows and other settings on moderate. Ultra may suffer with sub 40 FPS, but that'd be because of GPU, not CPU.
