So I'm a gamer with a low-end computer and so I can't really play many games with 1080p resolution. I'm in the market to replace my super old monster of a monitor so I'm curious, would spending the extra money to get a 1080p monitor really be worth it if I'm mostly doing 720p gaming.

Also could someone please recommend a good monitor, I'm trying to keep a budget (100-140$)

What's your build? Post specs w/ CPU, MoBo, RAM, GPU.

Oh and I'm sorry that I forgot to mention earlier, but I'm Canadian and I'd prefer Canadian links for any recommendations, thanks :)

Well for your build, 720p will be optimal, so it comes down to upgradibility:
If you're likely to upgrade your build in the next couple of years, get 720p. But if you plan to upgrade the build and not the monitor, 1080p is what you should get. I'd recommend getting 1080p, as, besides gaming, it'll be better in all other tasks. A good value for money FHD:

An HDMI input might be nice because it would give a better picture (as far as I know). I was thinking of this one and while it is refurbished, which is usually a gamble, has not only an HDMI input, but also analog RGB which should allow me to hook up a console (once again... I think). What do you think?

The one I suggested also has Analog RGB.

HDMI carries audio and video.

DVI only carries video.

If you are using external speakers (ones not on the monitor), then DVI or HDMI will be fine.

But if you want the audio to come from the internal speakers in the monitor (assuming the monitor has them) you have to use HDMI.

None will show a difference in visual quality on the same monitor.

Also, Neither of the monitors we're talking about have in-built speakers so there's no real difference. Why not a brand new one then?

DVI is as good as HDMI as far as video quality is concerned.

Ok thanks, I'll probably go with the monitor that you suggested. It saves me the 20$ in shipping ;)
