Laptop RAM upgrade

I currently own a Sony Vaio E15125CN/B laptop that comes with 2GB of RAM, wish I wish to upgrade. What all must I consider while buying a new RAM?
The currently installed RAM is an SO-DIMM DDR3.

Memory Slots 2 (Unused Slot - 1)
System Memory 2 GB DDR3

You have 2 slots with 1 filled with a 2 gig dimm. You can either add a 2 or 4 giving you 4 or 6 gigs. Or you could ditch the 2 you have and max it to 8 gigs. What ever you decide you need a PC3-12800 DDR3 SODIMM Memory. If you have a 32 bit operating system, it will only address 4 gigs and no more. That is the first thing yo need to find out. The rest is up to you. Good luck.

I have a 64bit OS, and I am thinking of going for 6GB.
