Google Chrome Freezing Every Time I Click Something!

I'm trying to navigate in Google Chrome (opening new tabs, clicking on things etc) but for some reason my PC will freeze every time I do so.
I have absolutely no clue why this is happening but I'm guessing it's probably something to do with Java or a plugin.

I haven't installed any recent plugins that would make this happen and yesterday it was working fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! :)

Ahh they will be fine. The Google Chrome Profile is an index file on your computer that holds all the configuration settings, profile options, addons, modifications etc. you've made. Deleting the default profile will result in creating a new, clean profile to start from scratch with. Even when you uninstall chrome it leaves your local profiles in place (stupid google). Here is how to knock em out!

http://techdows.com/2009/01/deleting-your-google-chrome-profile.html

Go to “%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome” in Windows XP/Vista/7 (use the Run command) and delete “User Data” folder.

Please keep in mind this will delete ALL favorites/bookmarked sites, any custom settings, etc. I would copy/paste the User Data...

Hi Shark Dentist!
First off, is it ONLY google chrome that has the problem or do other applications run sluggishly too?
Second, do you have a malware/virus scanner such as malwarebytes installed? Has it been run recently?

As a manner of diagnosing, create another shortcut for google chrome on your desktop and in the "target" line of the shortcut properties add the following line after the quotation mark at the end: --disable-extension

This will force google chrome to start without any extensions enabled. If you are able to navigate successfully then the problem is with an extension such as adobe flash or reader.

It seems to only be Chrome at the moment,
and yes I've actually just used MalwareBytes after the problem occured to see if I had any viruses, and I think I used it about a week ago but the problem only appeared today for some reason.

I'm going to try your possible fix now :)

I'm sorry that didn't work for you :(

I just wanted to confirm that this is how it looks:

alternatively you can right click on the google chrome button (windows taskbar) and start an incognito session.

What are your results from this?

Properties looks like that and unfortunately incognito mode didn't work :(
Strange, because Internet Explorer is working fine :(

Should I re-install Chrome?
Oh,and for some reason the desktop shortcuts I have for certain chrome webpages (youtube, gmail) are working fine for some reason. :| It seems like it only happens when I open a fresh window of Chrome from my taskbar or from desktop.

That last part is very interesting. So shortcuts to webpages that open in chrome work? And neither trick for extension/addon disabling didn't work. It sounds more and more like malware of some kind is doing something wonky to your chrome start page. What if anything changed on your computer since the day it was working (yesterday if I read right) and now?

No,I didn't change anything since last night (last time I was on it before it went to sh*t),
Woke up this morning and Chrome was pretty much unusable.
I tried Ccleaner..fixed registry issues..used the cleaner, then I used MalwareBytes and did a full system scan and nothing alarming showed up. It shouldn't be malware :(

I buy most my games from steam, but the games I have on console that I want to play in Ultra settings or games I'm considering buying I'll "swashbuckle" them to see how they run etc.. 99% of my downloads (I don't download much tho) are from a reputable safe uploader that I trust + I check the comments of the uploads to make sure they're clean. The other 1% is also from reputable uploaders + I'll check the comments, but it's not the uploader I'll usually download from. (Although I haven't differentiated in uploaders for a good while now) So I'm pretty sure it's not a malware problem as I'm very careful while browsing the internet as well as having AdBlock enabled (apart from YouTube to support the content creators)

You could try an uninstall/reinstall of Chrome. I doubt it will solve the problem though. When you uninstall make sure to keep the checkmark for your user data and bookmarks. Otherwise they will disappear :O .

If this does not work we may have to reset your chrome profile and profile path.

Do you have a lot of bookmarks/favorites you will lose if you deleted your profile path in chrome? The fact taht the problem only occurs when starting chrome from shortcut/taskbar is what confuses me.

No,I don't need need any of my bookmarks/favourites.. Just my google profile that I can log back into when I've deleted the path.

My profile will still be the same, right? :| sorry if it's a stupid question it's just that I have a YouTube channel and I don't want to lose any of my videos. (Pretty sure they're stored on the cloud tho)
