Hi,

I have a Asus P5Q motherboard, which has 6 SATA ports, controlled by the Intel controller, and an additional 2 SATA ports, by means of a Silicon Image controller.

My clarifications are the below:
1) I currently have one 3TB HDD on port 1 of the Silicon Image controller; can I add a second 3TB HDD on the second one?
2) Does the Silicon Image controller support larger drives? Can I try adding a 4TB HDD?
3) If I remember right, the Intel controller does not support drives larger than 2TB. Any additional insight there?

On my Intel controller I have the following:
- OCZ Vertex 128 GB SSD
- Seagate 1.5 TB HDD
- Seagate 2.0 TB HDD
- Asus Bluray Drive

So in terms of free SATA ports, I have two free on the Intel Controller, and one free on the Silicon Image.

Thanks and Regards

Yes you can. Windows won't boot on a partition larger that 2 TB unless it is partitioned GPT as opposed to MBR. You should not have a problem.
