the monitor comes with:
Power Cable
VGA Cable
DVI Cable
Are any of the cables above able to support 144hz?
If not,
1. Will the monitor and a r9 290 support a dual link dvi cable?

Okay, so it can support 144hz, but I dont think it comes with a DL-DVI cable, it just says it comes with a dvi cable, however, logic dictates it should come with a dvi-DL cable. I guess i could just see when it gets delivered and go to a local shop if I need to.
One last thing, if I want to setup my monitor with my pc will I just have to connect the dvi-dl cable from the gpu output to the monitor input and it's that simple?

will I have to download catalyst control center or can i just adjust it via the menu the monitor comes with, you know by pressing the buttons along the bottom of the monitor? Or can i only adjust it via downloadable software. I've heard something about v1 and v2 of firmware for the z series benq monitors but i dont have a clue what it is tbh!

Catalyst Control Centre is the software that controls the GPU driver, you should have it installed just by virtue of having an AMD card.

Firmware is a kind of software that is built into a device that tells it how to work on the most basic level. The motherboard BIOS is a good example of a firmware. Its called a firmware because it cant be edited, it can only be removed completely and replaced in a process called "flashing", while software is malleable.
You dont need to be concerned with this, BenQ might have updated the firmware in between manufacturing runs, but it is invisible to the end user and with few exceptions (motherboards and SSD's) the manufacturer doesnt want you to touch it.
