Hi guys,
On my friend's Macbook my friend's son accidentally clicked an advert and it downloaded an exe file. I didn't run it. I'm pretty suree EXE files can't run on Mac anyway? Anyways, soon ads started popping up everywhere, even moving banner ads on google's new tab page. There are many ads saying you've won money, dating ads, and ads saying you need to "update flash". I know a lot about viruses. This Mac does not have antivirus. I know that if you click an ad it can unleash a virus and I've read in a book saying that if you've clicked an ad and suddenly more ads pop up you have released a virus. My friend urgently needs help ASAP. Many thanks,
AKNerd

I would suggest download a mac specfic anti-virus program.

Hopefully someone on here is Mac savey and can help you further. Most of us dont use Macs beacuse no gaming and you cant custom build a Mac.

Im pretty sure an Apple spokesman said Macs dont get viruses, so you are good right?

Clear the browser cache; and OS X does have built-in anti-virus/malware, it runs silently in the background.
