A while ago I broke my laptop and I was wondering if I could put the hard drive from my laptop in my pc. I already have a hard drive in my pc, I was planning on using my laptops hard drive as a spare hard drive. My laptops hard drive has windows 7 installed and my pc has windows 8, would this cause problems with startup or running my computer?

Solution
It will work, but you need to blow away that old Windows 7 install. That will not work.

Other than that, it's just a drive. It will work fine.

How do you suggest I do that, without deleting all the files on it?

If you're planning on using it as a spare drive, it needs to start blank.
You can't use the applications currently living on it. Those need to be reinstalled with the new OS.
For your personal files, copy them elsewhere, wipe the drive, copy them back.

There have no any problem occur while you start up your computer. You will be show the both option windows 7 & windows 8 operating system then you have to choose a single operating system to start your computer, that which operating system you have preferred.

I think they hdd was corrupt as it wasn't working when I was trying to select it to start up so I just used boot and nuke to clear it up for the space. Thank you all for your answers though, it definitely would've taken me a lot longer than it did.
