Every time I've booted to Windows 7 I get three popups about a failed asus install. I think it was adriver, but it could have been an app. I did a fresh install and most likely stacked a couple drivers and programs. Some where something got fracked up . The popups point to a temp folder naming a missing file. Anyone know a method to stop this annoying problem?
thanks for any help
cheers

Yes I can boot into safe mode, and the error messages don't appear in setup mode. I can't recall which but either XP or Vista (could be both) there was a method to do a controlled boot. It would step by step load the operating system. You were able to look at everything while it loaded and could either let it load or remove it from the load. I must have put that particular bit of information in a corrupted area of my brain.
Does anyone know if there is anything like that with 7? If so it would be a great way to figure out where those popups are coming from.

This is almost always the result of a driver issue and is somewhat verified by the fact the you can successfully get into Safe Mode.

I would boot the rig into Safe Mode and remove all of the Asus apps and any drivers you recently updated before trying to boot into Normal Mode.

I don't think Vista and beyond kept the "step by step" boot method you mentioned (I remember it as well).

I might not have been clear, but I can boot to 7, the popups are just an annoyance at boot up. It runs super, aside from the popups at the start. I'll start removing stuff and see what happens. I'll do them one at a time though, I want to know what one caused the problem. I need to administer some sort of payback to the driver or app that caused the annoying problem in the first place... lol. Maybe yell at the screen for 5 minutes.... again....lol.
Thanks for the ideas COLGeek, I'll try you idea with my modification.
Cheers

Canadian Armed Forces Airborne 1 R.C.R. 3 Commando, Special Service Force. I did however work with some fine soldiers in Fort Gulick, and Fort Sherman and of course Fort Benning during a lot of the 80's. We did a little snooping around in Europe, and some other soggy wet hot, humid places in South America.....lol Damn Sand Fleas
What about your self? Did you serve? an what made you ask?
