Any info on where to find compatible mobo for my hardware? I want to keep the same drives and phenom cpu and vid card. Would like an updates board so I can add newer hardware as I go. Currently use win7 ultimate and 6 gigs of ram and a AMD 1 gig vid card

There will be very little compatibility for upgrading with that setup. That is a mini-ATX motherboard, which is probably what you have to have to fit your HP case. That's not the problem though. The problem is that is an AM2+ cpu and will only work in AM2+ or AM3 motherboards. The motherboards that are currently widely available are AM3/AM3+ compatible.

There are no AM3+ motherboards that also support AM2+ cpus so you won't have the ability to upgrade to anything worth upgrading to. Also, make sure your RAM says DDR3 right on the module because the information for your motherboard says it only supports DDR2 memory which is not going to be compatible with the motherboards and CPU's currently relevant. Has the motherboard been...

I'd recommend just upgrading both the board and cpu if you do have DDR3 memory now and if you're willing to do that you'll need to be sure the power supply you have is compatible. The voltage requirements of processors newer than your has changed significantly plus the pre-built systems from Dell, HP, Compaq etc. all generally come with cheap, low quality power supplies that are prone to failure after the warranty period and especially when repurposed for new builds. You could probably get a decent mini-ATX board, processor and PSU for less than two hundred dollars that would make a drastic performance change in your system.
