crossfire r9 290 with r9 280X

Solution
280X and 290 are very different architectures and cannot be crossfired.

You can cross fire 280 and 280X, the X disables its extra stream processors and it will adopt the slower of the two clock frequencies.

Not seen anyone do it, but presumably you can crossfire a 290 with a 290X as well.

it's will probably work as they have the same type of core, but you will hold back the r9 290x, it wont use it's full power. using crossfire doesnt double the performance. so you're better off geting a second r9 290 instead of a r9 290x
