Hi!

Right now i'm currently looking at new hardware for a new build...

I have made three builds and gonna choose one of them, one with AMD, one with i5 4960k and one with the Xeon E3-1231 V3...

Right now i'm pretty sure on the Xeon and AMD build with hardware, but i'm not sure if i got the right mobo for my i5 4690k, because i want to overclock it :)

Right now i'm looking at the MSI Z97 GUARD-PRO, but is that a good enough mobo for the i5 4690k when overclocking?

Here is a quick overview over my three builds :)

Get any of these 3 z97 motherboards (whichever is cheaper)

Asus Z97-A, Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5, ASRock Z97 Extreme4

I have 4690k and I went with Asus z97-a because I just liked it the most and asus motherboards and really good quality and very user friendly software/BIOS

you can OC it to 4.8GHz with it but with really good cooler ( i bought noctua nh-d15)

However I don't use it on 4.8GHz because 4.4 is enough for me at the moment :)

Yes of course AMD is really good too, but i5 4690k is best gaming processor in its class. But you won't regret taking AMD for sure :)

Just don't forget to buy cooler for amd if you plan to overclock and I definitely would! (hyper 212 evo for up to 1Ghz overclock, noctua nh-d14 or nh-d15 for massive overclock)

Indeed and more than 90% games are using no more than 2 cores. Battlefield 4 and Arma utilizes more cores where AMD procesors stick out. We don't know what game industry will bring us in the future but I'm expecting that game will be utilizing more cores :)

Yeah :)

But let's say i'm going to take the AMD build, will the mobo be good enough for overclocking?

I mean as i can see some says this is one of the best and some says the Sabertooth, and then there is some that says the sabertooth and the one i choose is almost the same....? :)

If you get a 8350, there is a sabertooth version, if you can afford the amd sabertooth, get it, most definitely

I'm looking at the ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 and then for around 200dkk more i can get the Sabertooth but then we are nearly at the price of an i5 build with a good enough mobo?

And the FX 8350 can get overclocked good enough with the M5A99FX?

Yeah, that motherboard should allow for some decent overclocks, if you're on a tight budget, then this is the build to go for

Okay i am kinda on a tight budget, so right now i should just take the AMD build i got in the first post?

I can get that for 3440DKK where the Intel build is 3912dkk ...

Then i can get an 250GB Samsung Evo SSD then get an more powerful computer, and if the FX series is gonna fall in price it's just even more great :D

Then it's 4276dkk for the AMD build with 250GB SSD...

I'm just thinking if i should wait with the SSD and then next month buy an SSD and a Noctua cooler.. Then just use stock and not overclock the first month... :)
