So I bought a gaming pc from cyberpwerpc a couple months ago. It is incredible but I payed for extreme overclocking of my 4770k and I dont think it has been doing that. The sysytem info says its running at 3.5 Ghz but in my BIOS is says 4.2 or 4.3 i think. So does anyone know if there is a way I can "activate" my extreme overclocking? By the way its a Gigabyte z97 sli mobo, windows 7 Home Premium, a 800watt psu, and 2 gtx 770's. Please help me out thanks for any advice guys. Peace.

Solution
To find what you are at - look in CPU-Z (free utility) at the CPU tab - down in the lower left is a MULTIPLIER pane it should say something like 8-44 (if OC is set to 4.4) or maybe 8-46 (for a 4.6 OC)

System info will always say what the stock speed is. You need to get a program that monitors the CPU such as CoreTemp or CPU-Z, those will tell you the actual speed.

If it is at 4.3, I would be happy that and there is absolutely no reason to squeeze more out it. What sort of CPU cooler do you have?

That looks good and should handle things fine up to about 4.5 tops.

The thing is, you can't just expect things to overclock themselves. You can "activate" overclocking in the BIOS automatically or you can do it manually. If you are overclocking for the sake of it just because it's "faster", then you shouldn't be doing it. You only need to overlock if you are looking for certain gains and know how your performance will be affected.

I recommend reading some guides on overlocking, get those programs I talked about and go from there. You need those programs to monitor temperatures and voltages, learn how this affects your CPU. It can be as easy as changing 1 setting in the BIOS. I have my CPU at 4.3 while under load but it downclocks to save power when not used.

You shouldn't be hitting over 75 degrees C on your CPU.
