Ok, so I just installed my new EVGA gtx 770 w/ acx cooling, and it works great. But for some reason when I try to use the hdmi to connect to my monitor instead of the dvi then my monitor displays the message out of range.

Also in the Geforce experience it says that my pc is optimized for everything except game optimization. And my pc meets the minimum specs.

Rig:
i7-920 @ 2.66
GTX 770 2gb
WD Black 1tb HDD
Samsung 840 Evo 250gb SSD
Alienware X58 MB
6gb Corsair Ram @1600

Solution
Did you check the monitor to see if the HDMI is activated?
I bought BenQ monitor a few weeks back and i was having a similar problem.
I connect it using VGA and went to the Monitor menu, found out that the HDMI Auto Tun ON function was OFF .
So after turnning that on my Monitor would get the signal inmediatly.
Theres also a RGB HDMI Range that u can choose from, idk if that has something to do with your problem
