Cannot Connect to University Wireless in a certain building.

My problem is two fold. The main issue is that I have to use my laptop for labs for class, we have to connect to a remote Linux server, I use windows and therefore am using PuTTY. The issue is that when I was sitting in class and tried to connect to the University's network I got the error message "The server could not validate your credentials, this could be a rouge network" something similar to that after I put in my credentials.

I was given the option to terminate the connection, or connect anyway, I chose to connect anyway because I know that the network is safe. After I chose connect anyway I was given limited access to the network, but had absolutely no connection to the internet. This wouldn't be too strange, except that when I tried to disconnect and connect again, when I put in my credentials again, windows eventually said the connection was unsuccessful, and I didn't even get limited access.

I went to talk to the tech people in the University Library and I was able to get a full connection, no problems whatsoever. They said that the problem could have been an old certificate for the network, but upon checking we found that that was not the case.

I left the library and went back to the room where I first tried to connect and I was prompted to log in with my credentials to the network, but windows was not able to identify the network, the blue circle on the network and sharing page just kept churning while around me I saw fellow students using their laptops obviously connected to the internet.

The second problem is that earlier I tried to install drivers for my laptop's wireless networking devices, which I was successful in doing, but when I restarted my computer, Windows would not load and I was forced to do a hard reset and run Windows Start up repair, and the connection problem still persisted.

I can live with solving this driver problem another day, but I need my laptop to connect to the internet to do the lab work, anything anybody can come up with will help, I'm just desperate because nobody at my school seems to know what is going on, they say that the network is spotty, but at the same time most of my class during the time I couldn't connect did have a connection to the university network and were able to do the lab. Once again, anything helps, and thank you in advance.

Solution
No clue what it is. Honestly your best bet is to to go back to the help people. Might need someone a level or two up from the base monkey. It's their network so they should know it best.

I haven't tried yet, because of another issue with my iPhone (IOS7 issues, but I know how to fix that), but I have another device that I can try the next time I am there, a Nook eReader.

Yeah, I believe it is a location problem, I am going to try and connect at the library and then go to the building I need without turning off the laptop and disconnecting from the network, hopefully that works and I don't get automatically signed off. We'll see.

I looked into this a bit more, could the Bonjour service be stopping me from connecting to this network, and only in this one building? The laptop connects to other networks, and even the network mentioned above, but in a different building. Can the Bonjour service even cause problems like this?

That is a good idea, the people I have been talking to don't know what they are doing, they are student workers and really don't have the expertise for something like this. I like that term though, base monkey. Thanks for the advice, I'll try to get someone that is higher up on the pecking order and I'll post my findings.
