Hello, I have a Toshiba Qosmio x70, Intel i7 4700mq, 12gb ram, gtx 770m, I was using msi afterburner to overclock my gpu as well as my graphics ram which runs at 2ghz and I overclocked it to 2.75ghz, and the gpu from 750 to like 850mhz. While playing my computer just randomly shut off, Last time I had checked my gpu was like 85c... but I'm not sure what it was at when the laptop turned off.

Since then while playing games It seems like my gpu is skipping frames, as I will turn my character while playing BF4 and sometimes it will go from point a to point b instantly basically skipping several frames, fraps doesn't pick up on it... it shows it maintaining a steady 60 fps.

Is this something that happens when a gpu is damaged or is there something else happening, please give me some info if you can ;)

Given you are using a notebook I would likely cut back on the overclock. A lot of notebooks even running at stock clocks are usually nearing their thermal limits when playing games. Unless you can find a way to improve the stock cooling in your notebook I would recommend not overclocking or if you do very minor overclocks of maybe 5% or less at a time.

Laptop cooling when it comes to mobile versions of high end Gpu`s like a 770m solution like you have.
Cannot keep up with cooling the Gpu quickly enough or get rid of the heat quickly.

You over clocked the Gpu or the core shader unit by 100Mhz.
But your memory went from 2Ghz speed with an overclock on it of 750Mhz or 2.75Ghz.
That is not good news and a hefty overclock of your memory.
It can result in you breaking or weakening the memory modules.
The more you over clock even with a laptop the more power it requires to run the graphics card at a higher rate.
Check the the card through Msi afterburner is defaulted back to its stock speed and test it.
If it still plays up then you should lower the memory speed bellow it`s default original setting.
If the skipping stops it`s an indication you may of damaged the memory, or what we call the Vrms of the 770.
Over clocking puts strain on the Vrms of a graphics card, if they become damaged then they can cause insufficient power required to drive the 770m card at its default speed setting starving the memory and gpu of the correct voltage required to run at a set clock speed.

Always be wary of overclocking a Mobile version of a high end card like you have, because your more likely to damage it through excess heat or over voltage.
You did a rather large over clock of the memory in one large step.
It`s not a good Idea 50Mhz at a step would be fine. It was a mighty big leap in speed for the memory. And maybe the cause of it.

If you still get no joy, i suggest you set after burner to the original values the card was click apply.
Uninstall afterburner.
Then remove the Nvidia graphics driver, restart your laptop and re install the Nvidia driver, see if the problem goes away, if not then there is chance you did some damage.

Are you getting any screen corruption or graphical glitches or odd colors in a game when you play it, any horizontal, or vertical lines of color across the screen.
Again it`s an indication the card may be slightly damaged to do with memory.

Thanks for the reply, my computer is acting very odd, my BF4 client has crashed twice now, there is no graphics artifacts just the frame skipping, is there any programs that can test gpu memory to see if there is any memory issues?
