I'm going to buy a Intel G3258, and since its unlocked, I want to overclock it. My goal is to get 4.2-4.8 ghz. Is one better than the other or are they capable of achieving the same results? Should I buy this Z87 or this Z97 board?

Solution
The z87/97 is the chipset on your motherboard, making it compatible with the CPU. I know it's used in integrated graphics, but I'm not entirely sure that the CPU and Motherboard can work together, as I don't fully know how they work together. I'll just tell you that those motherboards and that CPU are not optimized for each other.

You really shouldn't bother with those Anniversary Pentiums. Even clocked up to nearly 5GHz, they almost always lose out to bone-stock i3's for gaming. You should just save up a few extra dollars and get an i3 that will provide equal and usually better performance with less heat (and therefore less noise) emission.
