I have a custom built pc that's a few months old and yesterday added a xfx r9 270 video card. Now on start up I get disc read

Intel i5 processor
750 watt power supply
Asus b85m-c mother board
8gb ram ddr3 I believe
Samsung 120gb ssd
Western digital 1tb hd

When you start up, you get disk read? please rephrase your question.

Sorry disc read error...windows seven doesn't start up at all when this happens

Try to plug off the graphics card and restart.
If everything runs ok it might be that ur graphics card hve some issues.

yup try what payne said +1. If your pc starts fine on the integrated graphics then it is something to do with the new gpu's.

If for some reason it doesn't start then there is something wrong with your hard disk or SSD.

Thanks for y'all's help, I disconnected the ssd and reconnected it now everything seems to be working fine for now. Everything did work just fine when I unplug the graphics card.
