Hi, I have an older Intel Quad core CPU on a P5Q pro Motherboard, Have tried updating to windows Vista or Windows 7, Get an error message on the Blue screen, that the ACPI is not compliant. Help
i doubt highly the board is not compatible with vista or win7.i know you probably did this but, back up any data you need and select boot from cd/dvd and do a clean install of windows.ive installed 7 on a lot older than this and it should at least take vista,so i dont think we are looking at a non-compiant mb here.

Thanks Aidan, The HDD is a new one. I had installed XP on it first, cos the Vista disk was an upgrade, not the Win 7. and each time I get the Blue Screen, with non ACPI compliance.
so you have done a custom or "clean install"?make sure to format the hdd when given the option during the install.truthfully,on all the older hardware ive put 7 on ive never run across this, and like i said, they were older than what you have.
