I ordered and received a new mobo, the Asus P8Z77-V, and a wireless adapter, Asus PCE-AC68. I don't have internet set up in my apartment since my apartment is upstairs a school department building and I am within range for the school's wireless network. Will I be better off utilizing the onboard wi-fi card and returning the PCE-AC68 adapter? Or should I use the PCE-AC68 for better wi-fi connectivity? I would like to be able to get the best out of gaming.

In the past, I used the Asus USB-AC53, but I gave that to my mother to use.

It all depends on your signal strength and what the school router is broadcasting. Your board has integrated wireless N. The adapter is wireless AC. Wireless AC has much faster throughput speeds but less range. The N has a better range but is slower. If the school is broadcasting an AC signal and you are getting a strong connection, that's the ticket. If the router is far away you'll get a better signal with the N.
