I've gone back and forth trying to figure out what the problem is.

My computer was running smoothly then it shut down everything twice, and hasn't happened since. What has happened though is my direct ethernet can't connect to the internet. I've troubleshooted it too much, and it tells me i need new network adapter drivers. There are two issues here, first issue: in my device manager I can't even locate a network adapter; there isn't a network adapter in my adapter settings on network and sharing center. Second issue: i've downloaded my motherboards on board LAN drivers from the website. Here is my motherboard http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=536#dl

I have no idea what the problem is, I've been all over these old forums searching for answers but seems like there is nothing.

Solution
If a device is not listed in Device Manager, and it doesn't show any "unknown devices" (?) either, it usually means that the device has "died". To all intents & purposes, as far Windows is concerned, it doesn't exist.

You can overcome the problem by installing a PCI network card. In most cases you just install it in the slot, boot up your PC and Windows automatically installs a built-in driver for it.
