Weird problem with Origin after new OS install

I just got a new SSD and did a fresh install of windows 7 on it yesterday. After getting everything in windows set back up, I reinstalled origin and launched it. Origin opens fine, but windows keeps asking for me to give it permission. Not just once, but about every 10 seconds that it is open. Even if I just let it sit there, it will ask for permission over and over again. No other programs I have run on my new install are doing that including Steam and Uplay. Also, when I tell Origin to launch a game, it is telling me that it can't launch the game until I give windows permission. That doesn't make sense because I have given it permission, over and over again. Origin worked fine when I had everything installed on my HDD.

One thing to note is that I had all of my games installed on a separate partition (E) on my HDD and now that I had an SSD, that HDD partition is the same drive letter. That's why all of my steam games launch and play just fine still.

Any clue as to what could be causing origin to have this problem?

I don't know what might be causing it, it's probably a conflict of software but...

Try this:

Open Control Panel,
Go to the top right corner and select 'View by' then select 'Small icons'
Go to user accounts,
Click on 'Change User Account Control Settings'
Pull the slider down all the way to 'Never Notify'
Click Ok

That makes Windows 7 stop giving you those nagging permission boxes that come up on screen. Are these the things you're getting? (The one when the screen gets a little darker. You know that one?)

Come back to me with the results. I might have another solution if that doesn't work.

Yes, those are the ones I am getting. I will try that and see if it works tonight. But I do like having those notifications because I am under the impression that if malware or something tries to run itself on my pc it will pop one of those up asking me for permission and giving me the ability to deny it before it infects. Am I correct in that?

I wouldn't rely on it. Malware is able to adapt and in the future could almost certainly leak through that notification process. A good antivirus can do all of that really. (And it can be free as well)

I already have Avast, malwarebytes, super anti spyware, spybot, microsoft security essentials and spyware blaster installed, so I guess I am pretty well protected even without those permissions things popping up. Thanks

So I disabled those notifications completely and they don't pop up any more...but origin still says "windows needs your permission to complete this action. Please click yes in the user account control prompt to continue" every time I try to download or access a game.

I did this for Titanfall after setting up dual boot 7/8.1 and it worked for me, maybe it will help you too.

1: Close Origin
2: MOVE the game files from where origin installed the games to another directory (on the same drive is fine, so long as they are not in the original folder).
3: Open Origin and begin downloading the games (only need to get about 1% done) then stop the DL.
4: Close Origin
5: Move or copy the previously moved files back to where Origin is downloading them.
6: Open Origin and tell it to launch or DL the games (it will only need a small amount since the files are already there), it will validate and they should launch.

But origin won't even let it start to download, it immediately gives me this error and refuses to even try and download the games.

Here are the things that EA suggested that I am going to try tonight. Any opinions on these?

1. make sure you open origin as an administrator

2. Clear out temporary files:
1. Double click on "My Computer"
2. Double click on the C: drive
3. Double click on the "Windows" folder.
4. Double click on the "Temp" folder.
5. Hold the "CTRL" key and tap the "A" key to select all.
6. Tap the "Delete" key on your keyboard and accept the "Are you sure you want to delete these files" prompt.
7. Once done, press and hold the Windows key and the letter R
8. In the Run box type: %temp% and press Enter
9. When the folder containing all temporary files opens press and hold the CTRL button and the letter A to highlight all files in that folder
10. Press the Delete key.
11. When prompted to verify if the files should be deleted, click Yes.
12. Any files that cannot be removed can be safely ignored.

It's finally solved! So it turns out that Origin MUST be installed on C drive in order to work. EA had me try about 10 different things with no luck, but then just out of curiosity, I removed it from E drive (my game storage HDD) and put it on my C drive (my OS SSD) and it immediately started working perfectly. Ugh, what a dumb program. Even Uplay is fine running on my storage HDD.
