I've been playing BF4 with a friend a lot lately and want to chat.

What I can't figure out though is, do people use the headset for game audio & voice, or is the headset purely for voice and normal speakers do the game audio?

I've got a reasonable webcam with a built in mic, so I thought about just using that with my pc speakers?

Solution

if your speakers stand in front of your microphone it should be okay yes

I use my headset to hear footsteps in FPS and to block surounding noise. I also use a headset ebcause if I would use voice chat software the speakers would cause feedback which is quite ennoying!
and mostly a microphone from a headset is better then a webcam's

No I get that if I had a headset I'd use the mic on that for receiving my audio. I'm currently phoning my friend and chatting on loudspeaker! :)

Surely if I can use skype with the webcam without feedback it should be ok for gaming? I don't really have an issue with background noise when gaming.

ah, if it gives feedback, there are some options for microphones somewhere in the controll panel to lower static noise and to be less influenced by ambient sounds. when it comes to that, i'll explain how to get there
