Firstly, if these questions have already been posted elsewhere, I'm sorry. This is only my second thread here and I do not visit the forums regularly.

Second, this is not intended to start any arguments. All I would like is clear and concise answers to my questions.

1) Drivers

It has been said that NVIDIA has higher quality drivers, and that AMD drivers are more of a headache to install/update. Is this true?

2) Game Support

Many more games support NVIDIA as opposed to AMD (I think). Does AMD plan on moving ahead with Mantle and implementing it in more games? Also, does AMD have anything to offer on the graphics side of things? I know they have TressFX but that's all I'm aware of. Do they have anything to match NVIDIA's HBAO+, PhysX or TXAA?

3) Heat

I've heard that AMD cards output a lot more heat than NVIDIA cards do. Is this true? I know the reference R9 290X runs at something ludicrous like 90-95 degrees. but do other AMD cards (HD 7970, 7950) also output more heat than their NVIDIA counterparts?

4) Price

I know price/performance is AMD's strong suit, but is it worth paying the extra money for (supposedly) less heat & better software from NVIDIA?

5) Energy Efficiency

Are AMD cards more or less energy efficient than their NVIDIA counterparts?

----------

If you took the time to read all of that, thanks! I'm trying to decide on what card to buy when I next upgrade. I'm deciding between the GTX 870 and AMD's next offering in the price range (R9 380X?). Currently using a GTX 670, which is a great card, and that's why I slightly favour NVIDIA. I also like what NVIDIA has to offer with HBAO+, PhysX and TXAA. Really makes AC4 look a lot better :D

I've had no experience with AMD as the 670 is in my first build.

If you can afford it, nvidia is always better imo, amd is for people on strict budgets, for builds over 1k, people go nvivida

firstly nvidia has better driver support than amd
secondly nvidia has more games optimised for their cards so you generally get better gaming experience on nvidia
third nvidia generally has less heat than amd cards
fourth amd cards are ALWAYS cheaper than their nvidia counterparts, they are always the bang for the buck place
amd cards trade efficient spot with nvidia quite often,, this year amd has the more efficient next year its nvidia.. it doesnt stop..
