Why do you want to buy 2x4GB kit and 1x8GB ? What motherboard do you have ?

It's not a good idea to mix RAM.That can cause never ending shutdowns and restarts and it can damage the motherboard.
If you really want 16GB of RAM,then get two of these sticks:

nonono not two of those as 1 by 1 buy.. Find 2 of those but the ones that comes in KIT (together 2x8GB because they work on the same frequency and is better for dual channel motherboards)

The option for 4x2 was there.... I have to buy some new memory anyways so I was just checking.

Get either 2x4GB( if you want 8GB of RAM) or 2x8GB(if you want 16GB of RAM).
Corsair Vengeance,G.Skill RipjawsX,G.Skill Sniper, or Kingston HyperX Beast/Fury are my favourites.
