First I would recommended u change the motherboard to Asus Z97-A its cheaper and offers much better over-clocking abilities for the future, overall i would say that Asus Z97-A is better than the MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard.

Second change the CPU to intel i5 4670K

Thirdly change the power supply 300w is not going to be enough u need something around 500w i would recommend 650w if ur planning on upgrading ur system in the future u don't want the PSU to be a liability.

This is my build if u like u can use it; http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Thirusan/saved/Fgvbt6 ( just a suggestion considering it cheaper than ur and can performer better)

U can make it even cheaper buy changing the CPU to i5 4670k like suggested above...

You can get much better performance by dropping from the i7 to an i5 and then spending the extra money on a better GPU, currently the GT 740 is not the best GPU for anything but menial tasks.

I would advise overall that you drop the i7, get an i5,

Should save you about £80, and spend the rest of that getting yourself one of these :

Should give you much more performance in the system in gaming terms.

Hope ive helped :)

So many things can be improved.

1. Get a i5 4690K /4670K if you want to overclock. If not a 4690 is great.

2. Use the saved cash to get a GTX 760. That 740 is not going to help with a i5 or i7.

3. Get a Z97 mobo if you want to overclock(K processor). If not (non K) processor, get a H97 mobo.

Example:

And most important, do not even think of getting a 300W PSU. Get this one

Now you have a decent system. If you have money left, add a small SSD for OS and you have a great system.

The GPU is also much better.

I would also recommend that you make yearly upgrades to the system and the overclocked results will blow ur mind.
Without overclocking:
Maxed out setting;
Black ops 2 on 200-300 fps
Bioshock 180-200 fps
Metro last night on 160-200 fps
Battlefiled 4 on 90-120 fps

thank you all for your help guys :D i really appreciate it. and just a little question, how do you compare GPU's ? and is there much difference in a i7 and a i5 ?

To compare GPU u should look at all the GPU that fit ur budget and see their specs, you should be looking for things like core clock, memory clock, video memory and i would recommend that you looks at their game play on YouTube and see what kind of FPS their getting. Games are one of the best way to test a GPUs.

And for the CPU i7 is better than i5 as it is to be expected but i7 will be useless for someone who is looking to only game, i would recommend i7 if you do alot of advanced rendering , video editing , digital art, creating games etc. i7 has a higher clock speed, hyperthreading, and more L3 cache, which make it significantly faster than an i5 in all these tasks.

Gaming wise, there is almost no difference between an i5 and an i7, if your just gaming, go i5.
Secondly you compare GPU's through benchmarks and torture tests :D
