Need help ASAP!

So I've been looking for upgrade graphics cards to play WoW amazingly. I was going to get the Geforce GTX 750 ti but it was not in stock at my local best buy, so i went with the best one that they had which was a Geforce GT 740, thinking that even though it is not a 750 it would still be good graphics. Long story short: i got home, installed it, opened up WoW, and the graphics are exactly the same as my old card. Maybe I can change some settings somewhere or something? Any help is greatly appreciated and hopefully I didn't just waste $120 on a noob buy! :??:

p.s. my old card was a Geforce GTX 550

i think you bought same or SLIGHT high spec gpu
although i compared 550 ti with 740 but it should give you the idea...
and even all being said the 550 ti wins

Take the card back to Best Buy. Tell them you want the GTX750Ti (or better yet, the 760Ti) and to have them ship it to the store for your purchase later. You will likely be stuck with a restocking fee.

Per Tom's Hardware - Best Graphics Card for the Money Hierarchy Chart the GT740 is about on par with your old GT550.

There is no thing as a 760ti. OP, what are the rest of your system specs? I would definitely take that 740 back. You would be better off ordering a card online. Best Buy is a ripoff. If I were to get a 750ti, this is the one I would go with.

I called and "almost everything" includes video cards, so good news, as long as you have the packaging.

They price match Newegg and Amazon (from their web site)
