Hey everyone. So I built a desktop a couple weeks ago, and it's currently connected via ethernet. I also have a new smartphone, and I connect to the house's wifi with it.
Now, I can access pretty much any site that I frequent with the phone. However, sometimes the desktop has problems connecting to say, google, microsoft outlook, facebook, etc, but can still connect to youtube. Then after a little while, they all start working again. During the time that some of these websites can't be loaded on the desktop, the phone still has no problem accessing these websites. What exactly could be the problem?

I agree, it sounds like your DNS is messed up. On your desktop do you have it to auto acquire the DNS settings from DHCP? If so you may want to change it temporarily and set the DNS yourself. You could put in like 8.8.8.8 for your DNS server and see if that fixes the problem. Then you would know for sure if it was DNS.

I tried temporarily changing the ip adress and dns settings from auto find to manually writing them down, and it just stopped the internet service automatically.
I reverted back to automatic and currently am getting service.
The problem is not consistent, sometimes it occurs, and other times (like now), the service is working fine. I will keep this thread open and when the error occurs again (if it does), I will report. Otherwise, thank you for your time and help.
