How is this?

It would be used to play DayZ, Tropico, games of the like.

i5 2500
HD 6950 2GB
8GB ram

I will be updating the GPU but not for a while.

Is ok. You can even run Crysis 3 at 1080p on that system.

Your GPU Is equivalent in performance to the newer entry level nVidia GTX 750 or AMD R7 260X.

Your CPU can handle faster GPUs without having bottlenecks.
