Hi all,
Whilst doing routine maintenance on my pc (specs below) I've found what appears to be a weird "bug" in windows 7 ultimate x64:
In the event viewer's system log I have loads of warnings about recreating shares of files (films) I no longer have on disk due to a hardware failure.
For example: "The server service was unable to recreate the share Assault on Precinct 13 because the directory E:\Assault on Precinct 13 no longer exists. Please run "net share Assault on Precinct 13 /delete" to delete the share, or recreate the directory E:\Assault on Precinct 13."
OK so far.... with elevated admin privs, open a command window and try to remove the invalid share using the net share /delete command to be informed that the shared resource does not exist....
Next checked the status of shares in computer management and there are no shares listed (probably as they couldn't be created as they don't exist)
Does anyone have any idea of how to get rid of the old share references so they don't clog up my event log?
Is there any hidden database/file/registry key I can edit or clean out to remove the broken references?
Machine specs:
ASROCK FM2A88X Extreme6+ M.B.
AMD A10-5800K APU
16GB DDR3
OCZ Agility III 120GB SSD
Marvell 91xx PCI SATA2 Controller
3x WD Green 2TB HDD
4xSeagate ST31000340NS 1TB HDD
Windows 7 x64 SP1
Cheers
Andy
