Hello i'm new to building computers and this is my first build,

I recently built a computer using an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 motherboard.

Upon first start-up POST seems ok however the boot device LED stays on. On the monitor the ASUS Logo is on with press F2 or Del to enter into BIOS. The problem for me is that no power seems to be going into the USB slots, I've tried pressing DEL on 2 different USB keyboards to enter into BIOS to install windows and no lights appear on the keyboard itself.

I think the USB slots on both the motherboard and the case is not functioning as no power is entering into the keyboard. I would therefore like to ask for assistance on what to do. Thanks

Try it with a keyboard that uses a Ps/2 slot and then try plugging the other one in when the computer is fully on.

How would this fix the problem of the power not going to the usb?

Yes, however, i don't have a keyboard which uses the Ps/2 slot. I need to enter the bios but in the future i will need to use the usb

Some motherboards dont supply power to the usb ports in the early stages of booting
But i think it will work after you install windows, but then the problem is finding a ps/2 keyboard to borrow to actually install windows.

*EDIT I think once your in the bios turn on legacy usb support
