Hi there. I'm new to the forum so help me out if I'm being stupid! I'm looking for a small form factor laptop for good portability and speed. The prices for ultrabooks are quite insane and out of my budget for the moment. :(

I was wondering if it would be worth buying a new small 11" laptop (HP x360 in my head) and then upgrading the slow 5400rpm HDD to a 250gb ssd of some kind. The laptop is running an Intel Pentium at about 2.1GHz with 4gb ram and all together would cost me about £400. I'm pretty technical so I could manage to upgrade the HDD myself at home and transfer windows over with it. Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated!

If there was an 11" small form factor laptop with a decent i3, for around the same price, that anyone knows about then please let me know! Thanks!

Ethan.

At best a 250GB SSD costs around USD $100. You might well be better off taking that additional money and just buying a laptop that costs that much more. :) I doubt the SSD will improve things that mush overall.
