Newer camera cards are too thick to use in old HP PhotoSmart printer, is there any sort of card converter?

It depends on what camera cards you had, maybe buy the card reader like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... and you may connect it the USB port on that HP printer. Or try to connect the camera to the printer.

As per page 35 in the user manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/bpy20290.pdf
...that printer uses either CompactFlash, or SmartMedia cards.

The current SD cards will not work.

There does not appear to be a USB port to accept a card reader.
