hi i have a newest rig:-

amd fx8350 @ 4.0 ghz
gigabyte 990fxa-ud3
16gb corsiar ram 1333mhz
xfx 850 watt psu
nvidia gtx 670

my question is as games r now becoming higher and higher in vram i need to upgrade my gtx 670 which has been a solid card to something that is more future proof i was thinking of going with 4gb vram somethink like a r9 290 tri x or vapor x which is better and will that be a good future proof gpu ?

No such thing as a future proof GPU. R290 is about the 4th or 5th fastest available today.

Sapphire is always a good brand for Radeons. Nothing wrong with the Tri - X though.

Links to the ones you are looking at would be helpful.

There's no such thing as a GTX 780 with 4GB.

None of these suggestions are really major upgrades. Your best bet is to wait a few weeks to see what happens with the GTX 870/880.

Yeah probably since the GTX 670 is still a very capable card. But if the OP insists in upgrading his best choice would be that 290X for $450

How is trading in PhysX, Adaptive VSync, HBAO+, and TXAA for a few FPS and AMD drivers considered an "upgrade"?

I'd wait for 800 series, forgot bout that, that will drive down 700 series prices too if the 800 series isn't of his fancy

Exactly. Almost every thread asking for advice on which high-end GPU to purchase should be put on hold for the next few weeks. Maxwell is rumored to be faster than anything else out there right now and relatively cheap. Unless you're desperate you gotta wait to see what happens in September.

300-350 as it's under 500 dollars, it'll be on overclockers.co.uk I think the earliest in uk
