Hello guys,

As the title of the topic states, I need to replace the graphic card currently installed on my motherboard. The cooler stop working at all, so you know whats next: the temperature of the graphic card raises and raises (I have seen it today up to 150ºC) until everything shuts down

I gave it a last try today, checked all connections, cleaned it, re-assembly it....but the fan does not move at all.

So I did a research on internet and I think I found my ideal graphic card.
I am NOT a gamer. This means I NEVER use the computer for games. Maybe watch HD videos either on local disk or streaming, that will be at all, so no need for rocket science last model graphic card.

My criteria was try to find:
- PCI Express 2.0 (maximum supported by motherboard)
- 2GB RAM
- Interface: 128 bit

Until this this point, I do have four basic questions here I would like to clarify before placing an order I can regret later:

- Would the graphic card I selected meet my requirements?
- How is it possible that my old and now, I cant find any suitable PCI 2.0 graphic card with 128 bit interface? Could this be a problem?
- Is there any consideration I need to take about the 'low profile' size? (not pretty sure what this is , the old and the new card seem same size to me
- Any consideration about the power supply connector? (I guess this is universal, but I felt I need to ask. As HP OEM'ed my current graphic card, the power connection to the fan is integrated, I cannot plug it off
(can post picture if required)

Thanks very much in advanced!

Please find information on my current system:

To answer your primary concern, PCI-E 3.0 cards are fully compatible with PCI-E 2.0 motherboards.
The low profile size is only if you remove the VGA connector at the top of the card and swap out the installation bracket. If your current card is full sized, then the new card will fit as well (either full sized or low-profile).
The new card does not require an external power connector from the power supply. It will receive all the power it requires from the PCI-Ex16 slot.

I'm not a big fan of these low-end cards, but it should be sufficient for you needs.
